Newbie Sustainable Airstream conversion

Creating a sustainable Airstream conversion for retailer Newbie’s UK summer tour.

Working with sister company Promohire, the team at Raccoon was thrilled to work on this project for children’s retailer Newbie.

The brand wanted to take a pop-up shop on a two-month journey across the country and needed us to deliver a bespoke Airstream trailer to bring the idea to life. The key aspect of the build was the requirement for it to be produced in a sustainable way, to mirror Newbie’s green ethos.

Newbie has taken to the road and is visiting major cities such as Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, Bristol, London and Sheffield. The two-month tour showcases the latest Newbie collection and provides an opportunity for customers to order items for next day deliveryIt also includes free to attend events that nod to their Swedish heritage, as well as providing classic family fun and activities.

We managed the whole process including the purchase of the trailer, the internal transformation and the exterior wrap. However, aside from creating a highly engaging pop-up shop, the crucial element was to ensure we could support the brand’s eco aspirations.

People and planet remain at the core of everything Newbie does, from the production of each new collection to launching the ‘Wear, Love, Give Back’ initiative across its UK stores. Newbie’s touring Airstream is no different and so we looked to specify eco-friendly materials throughout. To reduce the carbon footprint for the campaign, we recommended restoring an existing vehicle. We then used the world’s first non-PVC, high performing wrap film by 3M for the interior and exterior of the trailer. This is being used in conjunction with a matching 3M laminate, which also boasts the greenest of credentials. The Airstream wrap has also been printed with HP non-solvent inks.

The internal build includes shelving and rails for displaying the Newbie range of clothing and accessories. We installed a TV for the brand’s video content, and the free-standing furniture and props finished the look for the perfect environment.

Externally, the eye-catching wrap carried through the wider store branding to attract attention and gain more brand fans. The whole conversion was delivered in our workshop just inside of 3 weeks.
